About Me
My practice places its firm roots in the art of storytelling. My art centers on asking questions and viewing subjects or ideas from varied perspectives. Questions come easier than statements or any other form of communication for me; I’ve transitioned from the child who asked “too many questions” to the artist who can never ask enough. My process of artmaking is meditative, thoughtful, and sheds light on the ever-changing joys and trials encountered. Brought forth are deeper soul-searching questions that are still trapped in the modern obsession with beauty and its vanity. Thus, represented often is this tug-of-war between the visual beauty and skill I possess and the ugly intangible I try to express. As a Latina queer woman, rarely do I see myself accurately portrayed in the media, so I forge this space through my art practice. The systematic brainwashing perpetuated by mass media fuels my determination to directly oppose the male gaze and create a new narrative to both self-soothe and inspire those who will follow me. A profound deepness of purpose and faith in a soul combined with the radical acceptance of my physical body unite to create the work you see today.

Esta práctica no se resiste a la verdad del cambio. Va y viene como las mareas en la orilla; fiable para estar siempre ahí, pero nunca igual.
