This piece delves deeply into the viewer's psyche, and their complex relationship with my art. In this example, my art became an experiment as opposed to a piece in which one solely admires it. Key themes include consent, perception, voyeurism and guilt. At first glance, it appears to be a simple triangular sculpture, but there’s a peephole at one end that reveals a photograph of me covering my bare chest. Prior to entering this space viewers are invited to grab a shirt on the chair right next to the sculpture. While I encourage them to pick up the shirt, peering through the hole can create a sense of complicity, as if they’re engaging in a non-consensual voyeuristic act. Highlighted is complicity in viewership and the placement people within a piece instead of the common role of spectator.
